Dr. Brian Karshen
For Dr. Karshen, nothing is more rewarding than helping a dental patient get their smile back through dental implant placement. As a periodontist with almost 30 years of experience, he is an expert at performing any procedure that involves the gums and jawbone. Why Did You Become a Periodontist?
Dr. Karshen says that he wanted to be a periodontist for as long as he can remember! He never had a bad experience or fear of the dental office as a child, so it piqued his curiosity, and eventually, he decided to make dentistry his career.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Karshen graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and then received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Illinois College of Dentistry in 1996. He later earned his certificate in Periodontology from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry where he was trained in all aspects of periodontal treatment and implant placement. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Chicago Dental Society, Illinois State Dental Society, and the American Academy of Periodontology. To keep his skills sharp and up to date, he regularly completes continuing education through the Seattle Study Club.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Dr. Karshen is married with two sons and two dogs, so much of his free time is dedicated to them. He loves taking the dogs for walks, and he is a big baseball fan. In fact, he has visited all 30 current MLB stadiums! When he’s able to go out, one of his favorite activities is bar trivia, so he’s full of random facts.
